Cut Rolled Expanded Stems are rolled, flattened and shredded tobacco leaf stems that are expanded by being soaked in water and rapidly heated and then dried. Up to 30% expanded stems can be used in cigarette production with no adverse effect in terms of taste or general blend characteristics. Expanded Stems can also be used as a means for reducing standard ISO tar and nicotine yields.
